Saturday afternoon all of the Europa team members departed from Orly
International airport. They arrived safely in St. Denis, Reunion
Island on Sunday around 1030 (local time). The team will board the
French Naval vessel "La GrandiŠre" today around 1500 (local time).
Their first stop will be on Mayotte (FH). Next it will be a quick
stop on Juan de Nova (FR/J), however no operation is expected from the
sister DXCC island of Europa. The team expects to arrive on Europa
Island in the afternoon on November 24th. Operations are expected to
start on November 25th. On November 29th and 30th they will use TO4WW
in the CQ WW CW DX Contest. The operators took four transceivers and
plan to have three QRV at any one time. For the low bands they took
two Titanex verticals (V40 and V80). Over 400 kilograms of equipment
are already on board their ship. The TO4E 6 meter beacon will be up
and running 24/7 on 50096 with about 40 watts. The message will be
"CQ TO4E TO4E TO4E KK". It will be silent for one minute and then
start over. The team suggests 6 meter DXers call for a 2 to 3 minute
time frame at each quarter hour (1000, 1015, 1030Z, etc.). Keep an
eye on the Europa 2003 DXpedition Web site at
http://europa2003.free.fr/.
9A4NA, Zeljko, will be a guest operator at AP2AUM's station for the CQ
World Wide CW DX Contest. QSL via 9A4NA.
DU9/N0NM, Jon, will be out on Samal Island (OC-235) from November 28-
30. He will be using the special call sign 4D71/N0NM before and
during the CQ WW CW DX Contest. Jon will be on 10-80 meters CW. QSL
via W4DR.
During his holiday in November/December PA3CNX, Peter, will be QRV as
PJ4/PA3CNX from Bonaire Island in the Netherland Antilles. Look for
activity on 10, 20, 40, and 80 meters. His preferred frequencies are:
3790, 7070, 14210, and 14328 for Dutch skeds, 28440 and 29580 (FM).
When 6 is open look for him on 50110. QSL via bureau to PA3CNX or
direct via the callbook address at QRZ.COM.
Look for special event station 3A50ARM to be QRV on all bands and
modes from Monaco now through November 30th as they celebrate the 50th
anniversary of the Association des Radio amateurs de Monaco (ARM).
QSL via the 3A bureau.
The ARRL DX Bulletin reports that K3JT, Terry, will be QRV as 5X1X
from Uganda for about 6 weeks. He plans to single-op all band on low
power in the CQ WW CW DX Contest. He will also operate in the ARRL
160 CW Contest. He was unable to take his amplifier. QSL via K3JT.
The Spokane DX Association (SDXA) has elected the following officers
for 2004:

Vice President - W3AS, Doug Brede
Treasurer - N5AR, Don Hearn
Secretary -KD7OCT Loren Kirsch

KF0RQ, John, is now in Cambodia visiting family and QRV as XU7ACQ. He
is using a Kenwood TS-570D and a trap vertical. He is apparently
across the street from XU7ABN, Claude, who has a 3 element Quad for
10, 12, 15, 17 and 20. Claude is currently back home in France with
some health issues. Look for John on 14250 at 1500 and 2300Z, 18150
at 1505 and 2305Z, 21350 at 1510 and 2310Z and 24950 at 1515 and
2315Z.
UA1PBA Oleg, is getting ready for the upcoming Antarctic summer season
as R1ANF. He expects to arrive at Bellingshausen Base on King George
Island in the South Shetlands Islands (AN-010) sometime between
November 21st and 24th. The R1ANF team this season will include also
UA1PAI, Slava, and UA1PAW, Aleksei. If work allows they will be
active also from other locations.
Look for WQ7X (ex SP8EST, SP5EST), Maciek, to be QRV from the British
Virgin Island (NA-023) as VP2V/WQ7X now through November 24th. QSL
via WQ7X.
425 DX News is during a survey on the rarest countries inside Europe.
If you need any countries in Europe you are asked to take part in
their survey at http://www.425dxn.org/surv_eu/. This survey is for
all time new ones from Europe only.
K5LBU, Frosty, is organizing another DXpedition to Swaziland and is
looking for other operators. Plans are for a mid-March 2004
operation. For more details contact Frosty via email to
frosty1@pdq.net.
The Australian Communications Authority (ACA) "has determined that
existing fixed/mobile users should migrate out of the band 3776-3800
kHz to other nearby spectrum by 1 January 2004." The ACA will then re-
allocated this frequency range to the amateur service on a sole
primary basis. So VK stations will now be QRV on SSB in this new
allocation starting January 1st. The ACA has also approved the
"removal of Morse code testing" effective January 1st.

Today's Propagation Forecast
______________________________________________________________________
Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be low to
moderate. Region 501 is a minor threat to produce M-class flares
throughout the period. Regions 486 and 488 from the previous rotation
are due to return by 18 November, and have the potential even now
while on the limb to produce M-class flares, with a very small chance
to produce X-class activity.
Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be
at active to minor storm levels. The coronal hole which is currently
elevating our magnetic activity will continue to be a driver through
Tuesday, abating by midway through Wednesday.
Here is the latest 3-day Solar-Geophysical Forecast:
http://www.sel.noaa.gov/forecast.html.
Perhaps the most useful propagation page for Amateur Radio Operators
can be found at http://dx.qsl.net/propagation/.
The sunspot number for November 15, 2003 was 52.
