. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 100 August 12, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ____________________________________________________________________ Headlines ____________________________________________________________________ The Voo-Doo Contest Group will again operate as 5V7A from Togo in the upcoming CQ World-Wide DX CW Contest on 29 and 30 November. Just like last year they will participate as a multi-multi. Operators include: Roger G3SXW/5V7A Paul K7PN/5V7PN Bob G3ZEM/5V7ZM Mike KC7V/5V7MF Cris G4FAM/5V7FA Tony N7BG/5V7BG Rob GM3YTS/5V7RF Mike N7MB/5V7MB Vince K5VT/5V7VT Bob W6RGG/5V7BV Jim K7GE/5V7JL These guys are loaded for bear as they will have eight TS930s and Alpha amplifiers, 18 different antennae including a 132 foot vertical which will be supported by balloons/kites. Warren, K7WX, has set-up a Web page at http://www.getnet.com/~k7wx/5v7a.html which includes pictures and other information. The operators will be active before and after the contest using their own 5V7 calls on all bands including WARC. QSL via home calls except 5V7A which goes to GM4AGL. 5V7A QSL cards may be requested via e-mail requests to g3sxw@compuserve.com for bureau replies. Valery, EX0V, reports he has recently received a computer from Juanjo, EA3CB, and will be using it for RTTY. Valery says to look for him on 14080 +/- QRM between 01:00 to 03:00Z and 12:00 to 18:00Z. He also says that his QSL manager Dick, N6FF (ex KL7H) can confirm QSOs for the following: EX0V, UM8NU (1984-1994), UM8NAP (1978-1984), UM93NU (1993), UM1N (1993-1994). Tariq, AP2TJ, reports that station AP2AP has not been properly licensed by the Pakistani authorities. He believes that JA8WPP and/or JA1EZM have been using this callsign. This station has been active since early June or late May mostly on 20, 30 and 40 meters CW. The Pakistan Amateur Radio Society (PARS) requests amateurs not to respond to CQs or QSO requests from this station. It seems as if many DX'ers have been doing the old "Work it first, worry later". Ray, WF1B, will be operating P40TT in Aruba from 26 to 30 September. He plans to participate in the CQ WW RTTY contest. Before and after the contest Ray will operate SSB. No 160 meters or CW.
