. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 98 August 1, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ____________________________________________________________________ Headlines ____________________________________________________________________ Paddy, S79MAD/GW4MAD, says "I climb on the 747 on 8 August and head back to Europe." He has taken down all his antennae and packed his rig for the trek home. The IOTA contest was his last big push before shutting down. Many of you may recall Paddy was given special permission to operate on 80 meters. He made 90 QSOs all on CW. His biggest thrill was having a PY/LU pileup. When he leaves there will still be 3 long term residents. Keith, S79KMB, the second most active S79 (now the MOST!!). He stays very busy running his restaurant and sailing his yacht. Joel, S79JBM, has not been very active recently. Last is Dr. Selwyn S79BBC, who uses radio exclusively to chat to old buddies back in India. He is not a dxer, lives in an apartment and suffers from humble antennae. QSLs for S79MAD go to GW4WVO. Paul, FW5IW, showed up yesterday from Wallis & Futuna and will be active until 14 August. He will be on CW only on 15, 20, 40 and 80 meters. He may try 30 and 160 meters occasionally. Next, he will go to 3D2CN. QSL via OH5UQ. Just to remind everyone The Daily DX will not be distributed the week of 3 August as the editor will be on vacation with his family. Service will continue on 11 August. Frank, W3LPL, will be checking on the QTH and faxes. ____________________________________________________________________ QSN ____________________________________________________________________ 3D2JH - FIJI - Jack was found just before 10:00Z on 3799 and stuck around until 12:00Z.
