. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 80 July 8, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ____________________________________________________________________ Headlines ____________________________________________________________________ Gary McClellan, K7ZD, tells The Daily DX that The Midway-Kure DX Foundation has just announced it plans to have a multi-national team DXpedition to Kure Island, KH7K, tentatively set to take place the latter half of September. This operation will include 5 to 6 operators (names, calls TBA), who will operate all modes, all bands for one week using three stations. Like the AH4/AH0W Midway Island operation, emphasis will be on working Europe and the low bands. This operation will be in conjunction with fish and wildlife scientists who will tag along. More details are expected soon. Antoine, F6FNU, reports that Jean Pierre Lange, F5TRP, will be active from Chad as TT8LJP. He will be operating both CW and SSB. He will be there until 15 October. QSL via F5TRP, Jean Pierre Lange, SP 85319, F-00842 Paris Armees, France. Antoine also reports he will mail a copy of the TT8LJP license to ARRL next Friday. Paddy, S79MAD, reports he has been given special permission to operate on the 80 meter band from 25 to 28 July. He will be active between 13:00 and 03:00Z each day. Paddy says "The time restrictions are to avoid interference with other users." The government is using the 80 meter band for inter island communications. The dates include the IOTA contest which is the specific reason why he requested that weekend. Paddy is now putting together an antenna, and will have a listen over the next week or so to get some idea of propagation. ___________________________________________________________________ QSN ____________________________________________________________________ 3W6LI - VIETNAM - Hiroo is now on the mainland using his new call.
