. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 76 July 2, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ____________________________________________________________________ Headlines ____________________________________________________________________ Ron Wright, ZL1AMO, has just informed The Daily DX that he will not be traveling with Jack, VK2GJH, as he feels that the cost of a charter boat from Tarawa (T30) to Banaba (T33) is far too expensive. He will continue to wait for a supply ship which will be more reasonable. Mr. Hyungsuk Song, HL1CG will be heading up a group of Korean, Mongolian, and U.S. amateurs who will be operating from Danlanzadgad (Gobi Desert), Mongolia from July 10th to July 13th (Naadan Holidays in Mongolia). This DXpedition will be put on by the Korean DX Club (KDXC) which is sponsored by the Korean Amateur Radio League (KARL). Operators include HL1CG, HL1DK, HL1FB, HL1IE, HL1IFM, JT1CD, JT1FBB/K4EQY and W6EE. They will be active as JU4HL on CW and SSB on all HF bands including WARC bands. Plans are to operate in the IARU HF World Championship however this is not the main purpose of the operation. Special photo QSLs will be sent to all stations who request QSL cards. QSL via direct or bureau to Mr. Hyungsuk Song, HL1CG, Kaehwa APT #107-305, Banghwa-3-dong, Kangso-ku, Seoul 157-223, Korea. Those wishing to request a QSL via e-mail may do so by e-mailing to hl1cg@stella.skku.ac.kr . Include your call, date, GMT, band, mode and report (1 QSO per line) in the body of the message. All e-mail requests will be returned via the HL bureau. Charly, OE3KLU, reports he will not go with the group of Austrians to Libya, 5A28. He also told The Daily DX about the 5A28 homepage http://www.point.at/point/ which gives some details and a picture of what the QSL may look like. Four members of the Rhein Ruhr DX Association will activate 5A1A in Tripolis, Libya from November 25th to December 4th. The group will be active in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest operating multi- single. Plans are to be on all HF bands including 160 meters and WARC. They will be on SSB, CW and for the first time in a very long time RTTY. Two stations will be used simultaneously with amplifiers. Operators include Andy, DJ7IK, Dieter, DL3KDV, Felix, DL8OBC, and Thomas, DL1GGT. DG2FEF, DL2FDK and DL4VBP will be uploading the logs to a homepage almost daily so that DX'ers can verify their QSOs within a few days after the QSO. The homepage is up now and can be viewed at http://www.afthd.th-darmstadt.de/5a1a/ An e-mail reflector is also being planned to allow DX'ers to give input and receive updates. The suggested frequencies have not yet been released. QSLs for this operation only may be sent via Dieter Voss, DL3KDV, Friedrichsthal 21, D-51688 Wipperfuerth, Germany.
