. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 60 June 10, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR _________________________________________________________________ Headlines _________________________________________________________________ Unni, LA6RHA, has just informed The Daily DX that she will be QRV from the boarder of Sweden and Norway the weekend of June 27th- 29th. She will be operating from LG5LG/SJ9WL at this joint radio station owned by Sweden and Norway. Look for her on 14248 (plus or minus). On July 25th she will be headed to Jan Mayen on a C310 Hercules. She will be staying at the base (military) ham station which is located about 100 meters from the main building. Look for her on 14248 (plus or minus) signing JX6RHA. She will be mostly active on SSB however she will do some CW to supply the demand. The location of this station does not favor the US therefore she plans to get over to the other side of the island on foot to work the statesiders. This is a 17 kilometer walk and she will have to carry the rig (Ten-Tec), batteries, power supply and dipole antennas. She is taking the power supply in case she is able to get the generator going. On August 1st she will head back to Norway. Finally around August 14th she and Evelyn, LA9THA, will go to Svalbard as JW6RHA and JW9THA. They will start in Longyearbyen and will travel by boat operating maritime mobile with occasional stops from different islands around Svalbard until August 24th. QSL via LA6RHA and LA9THA. Jim Smith, VK9NS, reports that Mani, VU2JPS, has shut down and will leave the Andamans on June 12th. QSL via VK9NS.
