He stated to Dick, 9N1ARB, that he would be leaving on June 12th. John, W4EVG(XV5AV), reports that Phil Wight, VS6DR (W5UHK) passed away on Saturday, June 7th, in Mountain View, California. During the sixties and seventies Phil was the publisher of Oriental Ham Magazine. He was also one of 17 who attended the first ever Southeast Asia Net Convention in Penang, Malaysia. Tom, VK0TS, who is on Macquarie Island says he will be on 14222 at 03:45Z on Tuesday and Wednesday with Jim Smith, VK9NS. He apologized about not being able to show up this past weekend. E21CJN - Thailand - Tham had a very nice signal Saturday on 7014 at 10:00Z into the east coast of the US. QSL via W3PP (ex K3WUW). ET3BN - Ethiopia - Peter was on 18070 at 17:20Z on Saturday. Then on Sunday he was on 14020 at 19:30 for about an hour. J28CV - Djibouti - Was working JA's on 21012 around 13:30Z on Saturday. VS6 - Hong Kong - Lots of activity from this one over the weekend. VR2GY, VR2JE, VR2JK, VR2KF, VR2UZ, VS97BG, VS97GO and VS97UW were all active. Remember the United Kingdom will be turning Hong Kong over the the Peoples Republic of China July 1st when the 99 year lease is up. At this time it is not exactly clear what the DXCC status will be.
