. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 53 May 30, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ----------------------------------------------------------------- Headlines ----------------------------------------------------------------- Fernando, EA4BB, is now stationed in Luanda, Angola. He works for Doctors of the World, a humanitarian aid organization. Some of you may remember Fernando as 9Q5BB. He was in Zaire until October 1996 when he had to leave the country which involved a 30 kilometer barefoot walk through the jungle towards Uganda as soldiers were apparently very blood thirsty. As a result he lost his rig, key, keyer and more. Fortunately, he is able to tell us himself. Back in Luanda he has spotted an abandoned 3 element yagi from a house nearby which he thinks belonged to a diplomat who left the country long ago. He hopes to aquire it and boost his signal. When Fernando gets on the air look for D2BB. When he is not on the air he is an architect and he builds small health centers in rural areas of Angola. QSL via EA4BB. Peter, 9M8CC, will be leaving Malaysia on Tuesday, June 3rd to headed back to The Netherlands. QSL via PB0ALB. Every Wednesday at 08:30Z on 5.865 Mhz HCJB puts out a program called Ham Radio Today. A parallel transmission also goes out on 21.455 Mhz using only 500 watts on upper sideband. This program is repeated at 09:30Z and 19:30Z on 9.645 Mhz and 21.455 Mhz upper sideband. On Saturdays at 19:09Z HCJB airs another program called DX Party Line on 11.960 Mhz and 21.455 Mhz upper sideband.
