. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 50 May 27, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ----------------------------------------------------------------- Headlines ----------------------------------------------------------------- World traveler Rob Shapiro, ND3A, has just informed The Daily DX he will be leaving Monday, May 26th for Bissau, Guinea Bissau. This is not a DXpedition however he will get on the air when time allows. He should arrive in Bissau on May 28th in the afternoon and will be in the country until June 4th. Rob plans to operate from Dave Bendt's, J52IM, QTH and use his callsign unless he is able to get a license. If he does get on as J52IM QSL via KB9XN. Rob said "As far as when I do find the time to get on, it will be mostly cw, shooting for 27khz above the band edge." Rob is taking some antenna supplies for 80 and 160 meters and a keyer and bencher paddle. He will be leaving these supplies in Bissau. June 4th he will be leaving for Athens, Greece, however at this time it does not look as though he will be on the air. Dave's station consists of an IC-735 with IC2KL linear. The antennas are an A4S on top of the roof and an R7 vertical. Rob should be able to get on 10 through 40 meters and possibly 80 and 160 meters. ----------------------------------------------------------------- QSN ----------------------------------------------------------------- 6W - Senegal - Richard, 6W6/K3IPK, and his girl friend Nancy, 6W6/N3NS, have been very active on CW.
