. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 42 May 15, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ----------------------------------------------------------------- S79MAD DX Profile ----------------------------------------------------------------- Paddy O'Reilly, GW4MAD/S79MAD, arrived on the island of Mahe in the Seychelles in August of 1995 and was on the air in September. Like many of you he enjoys working and chasing DX. His current set-up is a Yeasu FT-900, Yeasu FL2100Z amplifier, a TH3 tribander for 10, 15 and 20 meters, a R5 vertical for 10 through 20 meters, a delta-loop for 30 meters and a full-wave doublet for 40 meters. He is active on SSB, CW, RTTY and Pactor, however he is mainly on CW. Paddy enjoys operating on 12, 17 and 30 meters, especially RTTY. The best times to catch him are as follows. Early in the week (Monday - Wednesday) try: 03:00Z 10103 CW, 10135 RTTY, or 14260 SSB. 12:30Z 24.895 CW or 24950 SSB, if the band is not open check 15 meters. 17:00Z 18070 CW or 18102 RTTY. During the weekends he does participate in contests when one is going on, so don't be surprised if he answers your CQ! If no contests are going on check 09:00 to 10:00Z between 14195 and 14205. Paddy says "There are about five (hams) currently on the Island." He thinks he is the most active of the group. Keith, S79KMB and Joel, S79JBM, have periods of activity. S79BBC mostly works his friends in India. S79NB is just barely active and will be leaving S7 in about 5 weeks. Kurt HB9MX goes to the island twice a year and operates S79MX mostly on 160 meters. Paddy asks that all stations please QSL via his manager GW4WVO, Wenvoe Club Amateur Radio Group, C/O Transmitting Station, St. Lythans, Wenvoe, Nr. Cardiff CF5 6BQ, Wales, United Kingdom. He plans to be active until late July or early August of this year. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dayton Hamvention ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dayton is only 1 day away.
