A group of Italians are planning to activate IZ9R from Lampedusa Island during the WPX CW contest. The island is located in African Italy. African Italy counts as Italy for DXCC purposes. However in the contest they are actually counted as Africa, WAZ (worked all zones) 33. Lampedusa is IOTA AF-019. They will be active before and after the contest. A71CW - Qatar - Chris had a huge signal and pile-up into North America around 00:00Z for about an hour on 10109. EM1HO - Antarctica - Paul was on 1826 for over an hour starting just before 04:00Z. EY8CQ - Tajikistan - Alex is on daily around 01:00Z usually near 14010. He plans to put up a 3 element monobander on both 30 and 40 meters in the next 10 days.
