The operation came to a close at approximately 06:40Z on Saturday, May 3rd. Tim says they probably made about 10,000 QSOs. The BS7H operators were out of contact with Tim for almost 40 hours. Tim said "The ship is currently anchored at the mouth of the Pearl River delta where the P.R.C. Ocean Bureau officials got on board and are conducting some research." He was happy to report that "Everyone is safe and in good health." He did confirm that one of the reasons they left Scarborough Reef early was due to the weather, however this is not the only reason. Further information will be issued when all the facts are fully known. The team expects to arrive in Guangzhou around 1600Z today. Ed, VK9EEH, is currently operating from Lord Howe Island and has been active the last few days between 03:00 to 07:00Z. Look for Ed on 14260 or 14164. He plans to leave Lord Howe Island tomorrow and his next stop will be ZK2, Niue Island, around May 12th. QSL via K8VIR. The Radio Amateur Society of Thailand is planing an IOTA DXpedition to Elephant Island, Thailand starting around 06:00Z on May 8th and ending on May 11th. The operators include: E21CJN, E21EJC, HS1YL, HS1RU, HS1AAM, HS1CDX, HS1EUD, HS1OVH, HS2NS, HS2FDX, HS2JFW, HS6CMT, HS7CDI, HS7ECI and 9M2OM. The OPDX reports they will be operating from the Klong Prao Resort on Koh Chang IOTA AS125. Recommended frequencies are: CW - 1826, 3507/3522, 7007, 14024, 21024 and 28024 SSB - 7060, 14260, 21260 and 28475/28260 QSLs for JA's is via JA9IFF all others may QSL via I1JQJ. The two DXpedition leaders for this operation are Chamlong, HS1AAM, and Chairat, HS2FDX. Walt, AJ6T, reports that a group of VK's hang out on 1838.5 on SSB daily. Some times they chew the rag and other times they are listening for DX. ----------------------------------------------------------------- QSN ----------------------------------------------------------------- 4U1UN - United Nations Head Quarters New York - This club station was on 14195 just before 15:00Z on Saturday. QSL via W6TER. 5B4OG - Cyprus - Ted enjoys 40 meters CW daily between 01:00 and 03:00Z. 9G5CW - Ghana - Was very active over the weekend on 15, 17, 20 and 30 meters CW. He can usually be found 1-5 Khz from the bottom of the band. QSL via DL2RUM. A41LZ - Oman - Can be found just about every day near 18140 usually between 10:00 and 12:00Z. CX2CB - Uruguay - Has been active on 160 meters SSB between 01:00 and 03:00Z. Other South Americans have also been active on topband during this time frame. FR5VZ - Reunion - Jean was active on 21022 around 07:45 on Saturday working Europeans. An hour later he was found on 24900 working Japan. HC1XL - Ecuador - Was on 3797 at 10:00Z on Saturday working North America and Japan. He can usually be found on 75 meters 3 or 4 days a week. J83ZB - St. Vincent - Yuki was on 3799 working JA's with a very weak signal on Saturday around 09:00Z. Yuki is now QRT headed back to the US. QSL via JH1NBN. JD1BIY - Minami Torishima - Was on 3793 just before 10:00Z on Saturday. JF1LGD/JD1 - Ogasawara - Mr. Yamamoto was on 21295 just before 01:00Z on Saturday. He mostly operates on 15 meters. T00CW - Seborga - Was active over the weekend mostly on 20 meters CW. This counts as Italy. QSL via DL3OCH. T3 - Kiribati/Banaba - Don't be surprised to see Ron, ZL1AMO, showing up from T30, Western Kiribati or T33, Banaba. He was schedule to fly out of Fiji Monday, May 5th. His first stop is the island of Tarawa in the Western Kiribati's. He then plans to take a fishing boat to Banaba. QSL via ZL1AMO. TT8DX - Chad - Baldur, DJ6SI, started this African DXpedition on Friday around 15:00Z. He plans to be active for seven days. He has been found on 21025, 18086, 14025 and 10102. He loves CW and will most likely stay on this mode for the entire trip. Don't be surprised if he does go to SSB for an hour or so. QSL via DJ6SI.
