. ===================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 32 May 1, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ----------------------------------------------------------------- Headlines ----------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Smith, VK9NS, reports that Tom, VK0TS, should start activity from Macquarie Island. He likes to work CW and does have a rig capable of working split. Toshi, JA1ELY, reports Baldur, DJ6SI, is expected to show up in Chad as TT8DX starting Friday May 1st for about one week. Look for him on 1828, 3508, 3510-3515 and on 40 through 10 meters, check 25 Khz up from the bottom of the band. It is not known at this time if he will be active on 30, 17 and 12 meters. However if he does obtain permission he will more than likely be on those bands also. QSL via DJ6SI. ----------------------------------------------------------------- BS7H ----------------------------------------------------------------- Today was the first day for the Scarborough Reef DXpedition. They started around 04:45Z on 14195. It wasn't long before they went to 14024 and stayed there most of the day until about 20:30Z. They did get a second station on 15 meters SSB around 08:00Z which stayed on 21295 until just after 17:00Z. Just before 21:00Z they moved from 20 meters CW to 20 meters SSB on 14195. Tim, N4GN, told The Daily DX and the DX Reflector the following two statements: "1) There will be no on-line Internet log search capability during the BS7H 1997 operation. The team is using paper logs and there is no acceptable method of transmitting the data from the reef. The BS7H team is considering whether to provide such a feature after the operation but that decision has not yet been made. 2) There is no e-mail reflector dedicated to BS7H 1997. Bulletins such as this one are posted to the DX Reflector and the BS7H 1997 Home Page. Discussion regarding BS7H 1997 may be posted to the DX Reflector provided it is within the guidelines found in the reflector FAQ. Specific comments which may not be of general interest to other DXers should be sent directly to N4GN." Tim's e-mail address is mailto:n4gn@iglou.com As far as propagation goes the best days for this operation may end up being May 5th, 6th and 7th as the absorption should be lower. The best times for east coast and central North America should be 12:00 to 15:00Z.
