+==================== *** The Daily DX *** ===================== Volume 1 Number 28 April 25, 1997 Edited by Bernie McClenny, W3UR ----------------------------------------------------------------- Headlines ----------------------------------------------------------------- Tom, K8XP, reports The Date Line DX Association is going to Penrhyn Island in the North Cooks between September 20th and 27th. They are in the process of setting up a web page. Don, N1DG, is currently working on it and it will have a page for checking the ZK1 log. Plans are for this page to be updated daily just like the Heard Island, VK0IR, web page. This page will also include information about last years KH9 trip. The low band antenna arrays include the famous Battle Creek Special for 80 and 160 meters, a Cushcraft R7000 for 40 and 80 meters and a Hy-Gain DX77 for 40 meters. For the IOTA chasers this is OC082. April 29th marks the beginning of Golden week in Japan. This is an important holiday week for the Japanese which runs through May 5th. It includes 4 national holidays: April 29th is Green Day (Midori-no-hi) , May 3rd is Constitution Memorial Day, May 4th because it is between two holidays and May 5th is Children's Day. Some of the JA's are a little disappointed this holiday is over the weekend. Many Japanese take the entire week off and this may produce some good DX operations. Some DXpeditions to be on the look out for are: 9N1WU, BS7H, JR0BAQ/0 & JF0KYK/0, T30WP and V73WP. Don't forget the JA's who stay home will be on the air also. Today is ANZAC Day (Memorial Day) in New Zealand, ZL, and Australia, VK. Be on the look out for both of these countries as many will have a day off from work. ----------------------------------------------------------------- QSN ----------------------------------------------------------------- 3DA0CA - Swaziland - Jon usually starts his days on 80 meters CW around 03:45Z and then he QSYs to 40 meters CW around 04:15Z, finally QSYs to 30 meters CW around 04:45Z.
